Thanks! I will do so! We are really enjoying your blog. My daughters, 14 and 15, are home schooled and they read your blog for school. When I first told them I wanted them to, they were not so pleased but the first reading had them hooked and now if you haven’t written when they think you might, they mention to me that they haven’t heard from you! Thank you for bringing all parts of the world home to us.
That makes me SO happy, I can’t tell you!! Please let your daughters know that I only write when I’m home from my last trip … because I find that it’s so hectic and full of impressions when I’m in the place, that I can’t really get any perspective… and I find that it’s easier to think and write when I get home.
So, if they haven’t heard from me in awhile, it’s because I’m either traveling or thinking and getting ready to write! If they ever want to ask me questions or skype, I’m happy to do that – because I do feel as if this is a big global adventure that I’d love to share!! My daughter who is 21 is going wtih me to Rwanda on August 4, so I’m going to try to write about that as well … and hopefully she’ll do a guest blog or two!! So happy to hear from you, Renita!!
I read your reply to the girls and they were excited to hear from you. We also spent alot of time on the Mast General store website ans ended up ordering a couple of bottles of preserves, some old fashioned candy and a christmas ornament for my hubby..thanks for that great spot…and congrats on the nomination-we will be sure to vote tomorrow-all three of us! Have a good night!
Thanks SO much, Renita — I’ll be posting on Appalachia on Wednesday and I think the girls will like the story … poverty in America is a sad, entrenched, but fascinating subject!! xooxxox B
That is so true. We have done a lot in the past with Heifer, through the curricula and read to feed, and the girls are well aware of poverty in other parts of the world, but they are also very aware that there are many in our own country and even community that are very poor and feel quite powerless to help. We do a lot of volunteer work but it seems, even to me, that the need far exceeds the help we, as individuals, can offer. I am so glad that you are bringing attention to this here at home. I look forward to your story. Have a good night, R
These look yummy-can they be ordered on line?
Yes, Renita — just go to Mast General Store. It’s SUCH a cool place — they sell everything!!!
